Humanism is based on what is title after - the human race. It essentially states that the common and supersticious beliefs of organized religion can be debunked and that we do not need a god to live ethical lives. Knowledge of the world is instead gained by observation and cold hard rationalism; humanism provides the acme of freedom of experience in order to appreciate being human.

Hi. I've never commented on this blog so I decided to check it out, and when I read your post, it sounded very deep except I couldn't understand it. It'll be nicer if you could explain it more! Because it doesn't seem to speak to me. For instance, how does humanism provide "the acme of freedom of experience"? Otherwise it would've been a very interesting post.

For some reason people tend to believe that by being apart of a religion you are limiting your abillity to live. The bible isnt a step by step guide to how to live a perfect life. Its a turtorial and most of all a re-developer. Being christian doesnt control who I am. It merely gives me soft plave to fall when I make mistakes, making the abillity to keep living easier than if I was not apart of christianity.
ReplyDeleteSalutations , it would be nice if you were to give more information on Humanism, I believe that far more could be said on the topic, though from what you said and other blog posts I believe that as humans we need some sort of guideline in which the Bible fits in my opinion, just as the Kool-Aid Brigade said, even if you don't believe in God it still provides an excellent guideline for life.

I fount your post to be understandable but what do we do with this information? You gave us a definition of humanism. What do you want us to gain from this knowledge? Are you promoting it? Rejecting it? \

Assuming that Humanism is a philosophy that you agree with to some degree, I concur that the ideas of Humanism are very interesting. I agree that one does not need to fear a deity or be part of a religion to live a morally correct life. I also think that life is more enjoyable when one searches for truth on their own and through real experience instead of blindly accepting the spiritual views of others. However, I also understand that many can successfully find a balance between the two and that believing in a god offers many people enrichment and comfort.

I like the idea that people don't need an organized religion to live ethical lives. I like that because I don't think ethics comes from a book or a higher power but from society. I also agree with Bobby that while it is good to search for your own truth, it can be helpful to some people to have a religion to guide them.
